I don’t even have the words to respond to this idiocy right now.
I’m not a fan of any of the mentioned series, but I’ve read some of them so that I might have an unbiased opinion. I can’t believe that a magazine columnist wouldn’t realise how incredibly poor work it is to criticise a book without having read it.
I’ve read books and other works “written for adults” that were worse than even Twilight. I knew Twilight was going to be less-than-great, but I read it that I might say that and have it mean something, not just empty words.
Some books written for an “adult” audience are written by the shittiest writers who ever shit on a page. This isn’t exclusive to modern works, either. It’s easy to remember those “3,000 years” in a rosy light when other people have already sorted out the chaff for you.
